35 Week Survey

Sleep: I miss it:(

Best moment this week: The one night that I did sleep 8 hours straight, with the help of a glass of wine- don't worry, Dr said it was ok. It's even recommended occasionally.

Movement: Getting few and far between, but he's running out of room in there, so it's expected.

Food cravings: Chocolate ice cream and cottage cheese, but not together.

Belly Button in or out? Still got it!

What I miss: Pants without huge elastic waists that make my stomach itch.

What I am looking forward to: Pants that don't have huge elastic waists that make my stomach itch.

Weekly Wisdom: "It is not physically possible to be pregnant forever."

Milestones: Just getting closer every day!

35 Weeks

Theoretically only 5 weeks to go!

Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

Home Makeover Post, Take Two

Ok, internet. Please do not eat this entry. I have learned how to outsmart you and will be saving my work periodically this time.

Here is an update to all the work we have been doing on our house lately. If you are on my Facebook, you've seen these already- they're just organized into albums now. But if you (read: my mother) don't have a FB account, then these pictures are brand new to you and I hope you enjoy them.

And furthermore, I'd like to thank my Mom and Dad for all of the hard work they have done to make this a reality. Without their guidance and several weekends of hard work and sacrifice, Brian and I would probably still be at square one. Thank you guys for helping us preparing a home that CPS won't be tempted to take Sidney out of. (just a joke about the CPS thing, funny ha-ha)

AND ON WITH THE PICTURES! Keep in mind, this is still a work in progress- more pictures to follow in the coming days/weeks.

Total Home Makeover!!

I hate you internet for erasing all my html code that I JUST ENTERED!!! I'll be back to fix you when I've cooled down.

34 Weeks

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which will help regulate his body temperature once he's born — are filling him out, making him rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

How far along? 34 weeks

Sleep: Between peeing 9 times a night and killer leg cramps, not a whole lot. Guess I'll be used to it here soon!

Best moment this week: Last night laying on the couch watching Sid dance in my belly while Brian played his mandolin.

Movement: Not as frequent as it used to be, but the jabs and kicks are much stronger.

Food cravings: A milkshake from Hardees. Yum!

Belly Button in or out? Still got it!

What I miss: Vodka.

What I am looking forward to: Vodka.

Weekly Wisdom: "It is not physically possible to be pregnant forever."

Milestones: 34 weeks means that the Dr. will not try to stop labor at this point. Exciting and scary all at the same time!

Newsflash!

The handy dandy ticker down at the bottom of this page has informed me that I only have 50 days to go. Guess I should get some bags packed, huh?

33 Week Survey

I almost forgot the best part- the part where I get to be sarcastic!

How far along? 33 weeks into my 40 sentence. (I kid, I kid)

Total weight gain/loss: A lot.

Stretch marks? Still got them, even though they seem to be fading a little.

Sleep: Averaging 4 hours a week now. You read that correctly.

Best moment this week: Our baby shower. It was awesome!

Movement: Lots of punches and kicks when I finally get settled in the bed.

Food cravings: Nothing in particular, just lots of it.

Belly Button in or out? Still in, amazingly.

What I miss: Getting out of bed/off the couch/in and out of the car with ease.

What I am looking forward to: Finally getting the nursery set up.

Weekly Wisdom: Patience, Prudence.

Milestones: Getting closer to full term, where I will not disagree with Sidney if he feels he's just had enough of my uterus and wants out!

33 Weeks

EEK! That means only 7 to go! And I double checked the calendar and I'm on the right week this time, even if I'm jumping the gun a day early;)

This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

Baby Shower!!

This past Saturday was my baby shower, and I had so much fun! My sister in law Erin and mother in law Lynn were in charge of the festivities, and they did such a good job:) The food was great, the games were fun, and all in all, everyone had a wonderful time- I know I did! And a special thanks to Stephanie for writing up our very own personalized Baby Mad Lib- it was hilarious! (Will be posting it here soon for all to read) And of course, Sidney was literally showered with presents- he is so lucky to have so many people that love him!

Here's is a picture of what I could fit on his changing table we received- there's tons more, and I can't wait to get it all set up in his room!

What's been going on at the Dawson's

We've been hard at work, with the help of my mom and dad, on finishing the downstairs gameroom/family room, and now our first project is done! Here's some pictures- we're still in the decoration process, so it's not totally done just yet:)

Before

And after

And since that project is getting wrapped up, we've been hard at work on Sidney's room. We're about 50% done in there, and hope to have it done by next weekend- here's some progress pics.

The floors in Sid's room need to be sanded and refinished, so we're gonna bring in the belt sander next weekend and get that taken care of. Then all that will be left is the fun stuff- decorating!
